Maurice van Hoek

Maurice van Hoek

Maurice van Hoek is a talented student at the conservatory in 2015, but his musical compass is faltering. Searching for direction, he leaves his studies and hometown of Rotterdam behind and sets off to travel across America for three months. Along the way, he falls in love with country music. Relieved, Van Hoek returns to the Netherlands with a clear vision and ready to do what he loves most: write songs. He has found his footing and resumes his studies while working on his compositions, putting a band together, and completing his debut album, Live Forevermore, released in May 2016. He graduates cum laude that same year, and the album also earns outstanding reviews.

Over the following decade, Van Hoek releases Traveling Man (2018), the Church Sessions EP (2019), and Changing Lanes (2023). These releases are also warmly received, allowing him to perform extensively, both as a solo artist and with his band. During this period, fellow artists also frequently call on him to contribute as a session musician or producer. His focus has now returned to creating his own songs. Van Hoek is working hard on a new album, due for release in 2028, with the first singles set to arrive sooner.
